Behind the scenes

In a 2018 interview, Pelle Hvenegaard, who was 11 during filming, said his childhood ended with this movie. "My innocence is lost during 'Pelle the Conqueror', where I, as Pelle the Conqueror, am dragged into a barn and then whipped naked in the courtyard while everyone on the set is watching. It's transgressive for me at only 10 years old - it's not exactly the kind of thing I want to be running around being whipped bare-assed and showing my little willy," he said.
