Young Alejandro’s father tries to toughen him up by tickling him on his bare feet, chest, underarms and nostrils with a feather and forbidding him to laugh. He then slaps the boy in the face until he loses a tooth.

Ajejandro’s father forbids the dentist from using any pain killers when fixing the tooth.

A group of six boys invite young Alejandro to masturbate with them on a beach. The boys act and talk as if they are really masturbating but in keeping with the surreal film they are fully clothed and holding pieces of wood. They tease the Jewish Alejandro for having a “penis” which is different to theirs, leaving him in tears.

Alejandro is having a nightmare so his mother runs into his bedroom in her see-through nightgown. She begins smearing his bare chest in black grease paint, then his whole body as he stands next to the bed wearing just underwear. She covers him from head to toe then strips herself naked in front of him. With her naked and him covered in paint they play hide-and-seek, then hug, then dance.
